- Call 13 Yarn on 13 92 76 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if you, or someone you know, are feeling worried or no good to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Crisis Supporter.
- Call Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for support if you feel affected by anxiety, depression or suicidal thoughts, or chat to a counsellor online
- Call Lifeline Crisis Line on 13 11 14, 24/7 a week for crisis support and suicide prevention services. Text 0477 13 11 14 6:00PM – MIDNIGHT (AEST), 7 days a week.
- Visit Headspace to access group chats, online communities, and one-on-one direct support.
- Call Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800, 24/7, or visit their website for free, confidential online and phone counselling and support.
- Contact Reachout for online mental health information and advice across a range of topics, including relationships, stress and bullying.
- Call Head to Health on 1800 595 212, 8.30am – 5pm Mon-Fri to talk to a mental health professional and be connected with the supports that best meet your needs.
- Call Suicide Call Back Services on 1300 659 467, 24/7 for free counselling and support for people at risk of suicide, carers and bereaved.
Biological and gender-related differences contribute to more mental ill health for women. Biological factors include menstruation, menopause, pregnancy, birth, miscarriages, ovarian/ cervical cancer. Socioeconomic, political and cultural factors also impact the prevalence of mental illness for those who identify as women. Knowing and understanding your mental health, and how and where to seek help is the first step to looking after your mental wellbeing.
